The storyboard is a work in progress and it is based on the Noh play Seiobo.
Der Doppelganger
a310
A sketch for a new animation and follow up to our recent storyboard of the same name. It is based on the famous lieder composed by Franz Schubert. Der Doppelganger is a part of the song cycle Schwanengesang that was composed in 1828. The original lyrics were written by Heinrich Heine in 1827, while the English translation was done by Celia Sgroi.
We have changed the lyrics and transformed the love poem into a song about art and perspective. Originally, the poem ends with the narrator's realization that they are dead. Here, the spectator find themselves detached from the unstable and deceitful act of spectating.
Songs After Death
s316
The Songs After Death storyboard is related to The Beasts of Victory (s295, published in 11/30/2023). It is its reversed twin, as if turned inside out.
Der Doppelganger
s310
The storyboard is based on Der Doppelganger, the famous song by Franz Schubert. The song is a part of the song cycle Schwanengesang. It was composed in 1828, the year of Schubert's death. The lyrics of Der Doppelganger were written by Heinrich Heine in 1827, while the English translation was done by Celia Sgroi.
Our version of the work transforms what was originally a love poem into a song about art. The visual side of the work has been derived from our recent series of storyboards, and in turn the song fits thematically well within that world.
Now Only Ruins Remain
s303
The new piece continues the narrative started in the storyboard The Heart of Exhibition (s193, published in 12/30/2011), which ends with the sentence that opens this work. These two works together with the storyboard 2473 Revisit: SG Gallery (s195, published in 02/29/2012) were all inspired by our exhibition in the gallery Salon Galic in Split, Croatia, in 11/05/2009.
Our Heritage, Our Memory, Our Soul

A sketch for a new animation. It picks up directly from the animation Monuments, from 2019, and continues the Storm and Stress series.
Filmlog was started in 2002 in New York by Dario Solman to record chronologically the development of the multimedia project The Heart of Perspective / the Making of the Film. Over time the project grew and evolved. It is not a single a work anymore, but a chain of correlated and modular multimedia projects that share similar visual language and narratives.
Filmlog Video features full length videos made for the Heart of Perspective / the Making of the Film project.
Dario Solman Portfolio
The portfolio surveys Dario Solman's art production since its beginnings in the late Nineties, when he started as a painter, went on to be a multimedia artist and finally broke off with the arts to be a filmlogger and a robot / astronaut myth architect.
